“If you want your life to be a magnificent story, then begin by realizing that you are the author and everyday you have the opportunity to write a new page.”—Mark Houlahan (via littlemiss) (via papertissue)

Evolutionary/Ethological Explanations of Love – A man is attracted by a woman’s beauty but a woman is attracted by what she hears about a man’s status.
Psychoanalytic Explanations for Love – Freud viewed love as arising from sexual instincts and our adult love is based on our mother love, perhaps being imitative, perhaps opposite.
Neo-Analytic Explanations for Love – According to Erikson, only those who have found their identity will be able to experience true intimacy – and love – whereas those whose ego identity is not complete will either remain isolated or will engage in false relationships. Erikson saw love as the result of health, normal development.
Cognitive Approaches to Love – The cognitive approach to love tries to classify the different types of loving and, further, to distinguish our passions from our thoughts; there are so many kinds of love because there are so many ways that we reflect on and interpret our drives, motivations, and interpersonal relations.
Humanistic/Existential Perspectives on Love – Emphasize that people who realize their potential, becoming the best that they can be, are the people who can have truest love. They also focus on the idea that a person must accept (and love) him or herself before he or she can give real love to others.
Cultural Implications – We often assume that there is an ideal partner out there for us, and all we have to do is find this person and fall deeply in love. However, it might make more sense to allow some forms of matchmaking to return.
“You wanna know what living life to the fullest actually is? It’s waking up on a Monday morning with no complaints. It’s knowing you always deserve to laugh. It’s doing what feels right no matter what. It’s doing what you want to no matter how stupid you look. It’s about being yourself, because no one can tell you you’re doing it wrong.”—Unknown (via thresca) (via enamour)
